Digital fingerprinting is the modern replacement for inkpad and paper fingerprint cards. It is faster, cleaner, and in many industries, government mandated. This process is referred to as "Livescan", a generic industry term for live digital fingerprinting scanning.
Unlike name-based checks, which can be affected by aliases, misspellings, or identity theft, fingerprint-based checks tie the background check directly to a physical identity. When fingerprints are scanned and submitted, they are matched against criminal databases using those unique patterns, not just names or personal data.
